First Look at WE HUNT THE FLAME’s Map Art

We Hunt the Flame releases in May, but now that ARCs are heading out into the world (farewell, book of my heart!), I thought it was time to reveal the gorgeous map art Virginia Allyn illustrated for the world of Arawiya.

Here’s a fancy video I put together:

Isn’t it delightful? A few notes:

  • The kingdom of Arawiya is made of five caliphates (states): Demenhur, Sarasin, Alderamin, Pelusia, and Zaram
  • Zafira is from Demenhur, the caliphate cursed to remain in a constant state of snow
  • Nasir is the crown prince, residing in Sultan’s Keep. He’s Sarasin by blood
  • Sharr is the villainous island upon which most of the story takes place!

Welcome, welcome!

Hello, dear reader! Welcome, lovely friend!

I’ve spent years in this community as a reader, as a blogger, and as a designer. Throughout those seven years, I’ve been a writer, too.

But now begins a new venture: being an author. You would think I’ve been set on this path from the very start, but it always felt like an unachievable thing. In fact, WE HUNT THE FLAME was to be my last attempt at finding an agent.

It turned out to be the most magical thing I had written.

And here we are.

In the days and months to come, I’ll share more on how I signed with my agent, the journey to my book deal, and all the little things in between. I loved reading those posts as I grew as a writer, and now, years later, I can finally contribute to another writer’s inspiration.
